Staffmark is working with a leading manufacturer of instrument clusters and Head-Up display systems, which supplies major automotive manufacturers such as Honda, Chrysler, and GM.

General Summary

The EH&S Specialist leads the plant in various health and safety practices and programs designed to safeguard all associates in the working environment, which is conducive to their wellbeing. The EH&S Specialist recommends specific actions to ensure the plant complies with all federal, state and local laws related to the health and safety of all associates and the protection of the environment. The EH&S Specialist will provide support and project management toward the attainment of objectives relative to EH&S, corporate liability, risk reduction and environmental improvements. The person in this position will maintain the SDSs for the company.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of company-wide safety programs such as lockout/tagout, hazard communication and other OSHA safety compliance programs

  • Conduct training as required

  • Assist in equipment design and modifications to insure safety and ergonomic compliance

  • Advise the company regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state and federal agencies, including OSHA, EPA and BWC

  • Respond to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire, medical and security incidents and prepare reports of findings and submit recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions

  • Investigate accident and incident reports to identify root causes and make recommendations for corrective actions

  • Maintain ISO 14001 certifications, conduct environmental audits and submit all EPA reports as required

  • Obtain EPA permits as necessary

  • Monitor daily operations activities for compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and take corrective measures when issues of non-compliance are discovered

    Job Requirements

    Formal Education and certification:
    �B.S. emphasized in Occupational Health, Safety or a comparable scientific discipline

    Knowledge and experience:
    �Knowledge of regulatory requirements and recognized standard (OSHA, EPA, BWC and ANSI)
    �Experience with BWC claims from report of incident through the lifecycle of the claim
    �Possess understanding of machine operating principles and ability to evaluate machine guarding requirements
    �Familiarity with industrial hygiene concepts and practices
    �Medical Law knowledge a plus
    �Administration/HR experience a plus
    �Experience in automotive manufacturing a plus

    Travel: Ability to travel to our Wilmington, Ohio location as required
    Availability: Monday-Friday, Normal Business Hours. Off-hours as needed.
