Human Resources Assistant - Concord, CA

Employee Relations and Compliance

    • Assist with employee relations questions
    • Assist with employee engagement and organizing company activities
    • Process incoming mail and disburse it accordingly
    • Respond to reference checks, process verifications of employment request and other needed HR correspondence
    • Assist with collecting and preparing documents for audits throughout the year
    • Assist with state and federal filings and reporting

Recruitment/New Hire Process

    • Assist with screening and interviewing candidates, coordinating pre-employment testing, and processing background and reference checks
    • Schedule job interviews and assist in the interview process if needed
    • Prepare onboarding and off boarding documents and assist with proper documentation and recordkeeping of these documents


    • Assist with maintaining current HR files and databases
    • Assist with recording and maintaining employee information including but not limited to personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, termination date and reason
    • Assist with maintaining records related to grievances, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
    • Assist with document preparation and record keeping of employees taking a leave of absence
    • Assist with managing employee leaves, maintaining communication and paperwork while keeping accurate timeline records


    • Manage Commuter Benefit deductions, reconciliation, and audits
    • Serve as backup to the Human Resources Manager for payroll and miscellaneous tasks

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and handle complex and confidential matters

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, as to communicate with employees and the HR Manager

  • Must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information

  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently

  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality

  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback

  • Experience with payroll is preferred, but not required

Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or Associate's degree with two years related experience and training in the field of Human Resources. Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee and personnel matters.
