Posting Description:

The IOC has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Ocean Export Agent. We are looking for a team player with 5+ years experience in the freight forwarding industry. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and customer service skills. Very good interpersonal skills, attention to details and a positive, professional demeanor are essential for success. The position will report to the Assistant Manager of the IOC. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Primary Duties:

  • Identify, organize and coordinate customer shipping requirements

  • Accurately, timely and efficiently prepare documents for ocean export shipments; and import documents for distribution to Brokerage Operations and/or customers' Brokers

  • Accurately and timely prepare invoices; and all required AS-400 database entries

  • Effectively coordinate pickup and delivery orders with steamship, trucking, rail and warehouse companies

  • Provide professional, high quality customer service by direct customer contact

  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, other regional branches and offices, and all external contacts

  • Effectively interface and consult with the Branch Licensed Broker and Customs Brokerage Operations staff to obtain technical guidance for regulatory compliance purposes as required by agencies including the FMC, EAR and U.S. Customs

  • Provide rates to internal and external customers, direct contact with customer

  • Timely and professional daily communications with customer via phone, fax and email

  • Interact professionally with co-workers and others at all times

  • Perform specific and assigned operations and administrative tasks in order to provide high quality customer service while meeting the Company's goals

Requirements:
*High School Graduate, GED or equivalency certificate, or significant, relevant or appropriate working experience *5+ years’ freight-forwarding industry experience in ocean export *Experience in FCL / LCL Ocean Cargo logistics and documentation *Experience with steamship lines' Bill of Lading and INCO terms *Experience with Ocean accounting *Basic to Intermediate PC skills – MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, AS400 knowledge *Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, professional and positive demeanor *Commitment to the appropriate sense of urgency to complete assignments with accuracy and efficiency *Strong organizational skills with superior attention to details and follow-up *Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications, customer service and teamwork skills, with professional, positive, and motivated demeanor *Able to multitask and effectively handle changing priorities under pressure *Ability to understand, develop and maintain multi-cultural relationships. *Patience – able to deal with complex processes that may involve multiple levels of approval *Must be available to work flexible scheduled hours and days depending upon customer demands including early or later starts, overtime, weekends and occasional holidays.
