Position Overview:

The Project Lead Engineer is an integral part of the Off-Road Vehicle Engineering team who will manage engineering projects to meet customer requirements, including analysis, design, test, manufacture, and delivery to customer. Directly interface with customers and the FOX organization to ensure that customer requirements for performance and timing are met and FOX requirements for financial performance are met.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Establish a project target both through direct interaction with the customer
  • Organize the project timeline and action items with a cross-functional design, test supplier, quality, and manufacturing team.
  • Create design of new parts and systems from concept level through to production
  • Manage projects to meet customer requirements, including design, test, manufacture, and delivery to customer. Report progress and top issues to Management at key milestones
  • Interface with customers and FOX organizations to meet cost, time, and performance goals. Managing projects from the concept level through testing and production revisions
  • Oversee fabrication of prototypes, evaluate product fitment, coordinate product testing
  • Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOM's and ECN documentation
  • Communicate with and influence key customers, external stakeholders, and business leaders.
  • Lead formal design, peer, and quality reviews
  • Lead resolution of technical issues
  • Create and maintain design drawings including production print development to a high standard of detail
  • Excellent communication is a must as this position works across multiple teams to reach project goals
  • Good sense of teamwork and flexibility to accommodate shifting work priorities
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis
  • Participate in/coordinate creative brainstorming sessions to solve technical problems
  • Occasional travel to customers and to suppliers to solve manufacturing problems and ensure that customer requirements are met
  • Root cause failures, and work with suppliers to determine actions to eliminate possible future failures

Requirements/ Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering field related to product design, manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated understanding and experience in the application of Mechanical Engineering theories and principals.
CAD experience in Pro Engineer/Cero a plus
Experience with GD&T a plus
3-5 years direct experience in design and design tools a plus (CAD, CAE, FEA).
Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with design for high volume manufacture of consumer products.
Automotive Experience or Tier 1 Supplier experience a plus
Fabrication experience a plus
DoD Secret Security Clearance a plus
Passion for off-roading and outdoor activities a plus
