Retail Planner / Allocator - San Francisco, CA

Work within the Planning/Allocations department of a well-known, global company with headquarters in San Francisco! This company is known for their long history, beloved brands, positive culture and community involvement, and their sustainability and green initiatives.

We are looking for someone with experience in planning, allocations, or demand forecasting within a supply chain background. Experience in retail/consumer goods is required; experience in apparel/fashion is a plus.

This role is a 6 month contract to start, but has potential to be converted to a career role with the company, as they have a long-term need for allocators and planners within multiple departments.

Brief Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to drive the profitability and growth of our retail stores by creating and managing merchandise sales and inventory plans at the department/category/product level, which result in the achievement of divisional financial goals.

  • Assist in the creation of pre-season department level plans that support department and divisional strategies

  • Partner with merchant to create pre-season style plans and recommend investment quantities, leveraging historical data and incorporating merchandise strategies and trend

  • Responsible for forecasting in-season sales and inventory and developing strategies to maximize opportunities and mitigate risk

  • Manage monthly department level open-to-buys and present forecast and action recommendations to management

  • Develop monthly forecasts of sales and inventory for core product based on current trend and partner with supply planning counterpart to execute inventory chase/cut strategies, as applicable

  • Participate in strategizing, recommending and executing in-season pricing strategies, including promotions and markdowns that are optimized to deliver financial targets

  • Analyze historic department/class/category performance and recommend and present opportunities for future seasons

  • Participate in one or more planning related or cross functional special projects;

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (4+years of combined college education and work experience may be substituted for a degree)

  • 2-4 years work experience, preferred
