Job Summary: The Custodian is responsible for the proper sanitization, organization and minor repairs required to maintain their assigned areas of the buildings and facilities. These areas include, but are not limited to: warehouses, shipping dock, processing and production areas, laboratories, administrative offices, storage facilities, rental offices, and auxiliary housing, among others.
Sweeps, scrubs, and mops floors; strips, waxes, buffs, and seals floors using heavy floor care machines; and vacuums, spot cleans, and shampoos carpets.
Cleans walls, windows, mirrors, pictures, mini-blinds, bookcases, computer screens, and water fountains; washes, dusts, and polishes furniture, woodwork, shelves, and metal work; cleans rest rooms and replenishes rest room supplies; and collects and empties waste receptacles. Cleans, maintains, and repairs housekeeping equipment and materials.
Performs minor building maintenance repairs, including replacing light bulbs, hanging pictures, and mounting cabinets to walls; repairs office furniture; and refers work requiring major maintenance or repair to appropriate sources.
Arranges furniture for, conference rooms, and administrative offices; moves and transports furniture and office equipment within and between plants, administrative facilities, and storage facilities; and moves, transports, and properly disposes of archival files.
Opens facilities in the morning and turns out lights and locks doors and windows at the end of the work day.
Responsible for trash and debris removal.
Follow and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP's).
Safely operate all sanitation equipment, including but not limited to: wet and dry vacuum cleaners, ladders, floor care machines, and tools used in minor building maintenance and repair.
Regular and reliable attendance required.
Experience in a sanitation role strongly preferred; Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to work independently with minor supervision; Must be able to follow all safety procedures.
