The Research Technician will focus on performing day to day analytical laboratory inspections of oil and catalyst samples in support of the Resid R&D team. The position includes performing routine and non-routine analytical tests of oil and catalyst samples, including for oil samples, MCRT, and sediment filtration and for catalysts, various nitrogen physisorption analyses. Work under glove box, involving blending of various oil samples, as well as development of test methodology is also occasionally required. The position is dynamic and requires a mix of laboratory skills depending on the project business need. Candidate must maintain a high degree of independence and responsibility, reliability and accountability in planning and reporting laboratory results, and troubleshooting analytical instruments, and complying with quality control requirements. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with senior chemists/engineers in the team to maximize productivity by applying special skills and experience routinely and by drawing on knowledge and skills of other experienced personnel. *This is a safety sensitive position.*
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
· Working efficiently on routine analytical tests, delivering reliable results in a timely manner.
· Working on non-routine tasks of broadly outlined assignments to develop or test new analytical test methodologies.
· Using a mix of laboratory skills depending on the project business need.
· Maintain a high degree of independence, responsibility, reliability, and accountability in planning and reporting laboratory results.
· Communicate clearly and effectively.
· Apply special skills and experience routinely, and draw on knowledge and skills of other research engineers/chemists.
Bachelor degree in Chemistry or chemistry-related major. Demonstrated track record of hands-on analytical laboratory experience and accuracy in generating and reporting data, with experience handling oil and/or catalyst samples, and maintaining analytical instruments. Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, including monitoring QC results and organizing analytical results. Demonstrated experience working in a safety sensitive laboratory environment, and complying with safety-related guidelines. Demonstrated track record of high performance and multi-tasking behaviors. Proven experience working within a team environment and draw on knowledge and skills of other research engineers/chemists. Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
