Buyer Planner - Leetsdale, PA

This position consists of material buying and planning. As the material buyer, the person in this role is to ensure procurement activity results in optimum cost for quality materials. Materials are to be received on-time and accurately inventoried. This position is responsible for procurement, material requirements planning, and production planning of all assigned sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develops and maintains supplier relationships

Responsible for the analysis of sales orders and customer demand to determine material requirements

Assures purchasing is completed from approved vendors in accordance with established policies and procedures

In cooperation with Engineering and Design staff, sources components/products and negotiates pricing and contracts with suppliers

Responsible for ensuring accuracy of all MRP and vendor data in ERP system

Responsible for acting on order releases and exception messages from the MRP/ERP system, for all assigned sites, for both purchasing and production items

Collaborates with management annually to prepare plans and budgets for approval

Maintains ongoing program to identify secondary and more cost-effective sources

Assesses supplier performance in accordance with ISO standards and Quality Procedures

Responsible for training as required

Responsible for updating, and maintaining accurate computer data to ensure database integrity. (Trains employees on the operation of the ERP system)

Utilizes and practices methods for continuous improvement

Performs other related duties as assigned


Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field along with 2-3 years of electronics procurement and materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience such as a broad manufacturing background of 4 to 5 years' experience will also be considered. Must possess analytical skills needed to perform the duties required for forecasting and managing material requirements Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of changing situations Excellent organizational skills Must be proficient in the use of the following software applications: Microsoft Dynamics A/X, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Basic knowledge of accounting principles, Lean Manufacturing, Kanban and Kaizen principles, JIT, Six Sigma, ISO quality standards, and import/export laws Precise attention to detail including accuracy and integrity of information Ability to read and interpret drawings/prints, understand dimensioning, tolerances, etc Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of changing situations Necessary to display a high level of critical thinking to successfully resolve high-impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems Ability to define problems, collect data, establish , and draw valid conclusions Superior listening, oral and written communication skills Must be able to multi-task and prioritize Sensitivity to cultural differences found in an international business environment
