Provides support for daily operations of a branch library.
Works under the general supervision of the Branch Manager and Assistant Manager.
Performs circulation desk duties, including:
Registering patrons for library cards.
Charging, discharging, routing, changing status, and placing requests against materials.
Making reservations for use of audio-visual equipment.
Collecting and recording fines, fees, and gifts.
Assisting patrons by answering directional and procedural inquiries, advising patrons regarding the library's services and resources.
Notifying patrons regarding availability of requested items.
Giving instructions regarding on-line catalog use and location of materials.
Completing forms to request materials not owned by the library.
Instructing patrons in the operation of various equipment, such as the copier, the printers, and the computers.
Answering simple reference and information requests.
Registering patrons to access the Internet and instructing in its use.
Providing guidance and support regarding e-reading devices and services.
Performs stack maintenance functions by:
- Preparing materials for re-shelving by verifying locations and shelf-readiness.
- Shelving all materials in correct locations.
- Keeping shelves neat and attractive.
- Keeping shelves in correct order by periodically "reading" the shelves.
- Creating displays and signage to attract patrons to programs, inform patrons of new policies and procedures, or to direct patrons to collections and/or special interest items.
Maintains reading areas by straightening and clearing materials and furniture.
Assists in opening and closing procedures.
May be required to work some weekends and nights.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Branch Manager, or Assistant Manager.

DESIRED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age with any combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1.Some knowledge of standard library functions and purposes. Ability to learn routine library procedures readily. Familiarity with computers. 2.Skill in operating listed tools and equipment; and 3.Ability to meet and deal courteously with the public and other employees. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Computer, phone, copy machine, printer.
