The Band Saw Operator will be responsible for the set-up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal. This position will cover the bandsaw during the second shift: 2:00 PM to 12:00 Midnight.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Examine completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
- Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
- Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes.
- Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
- Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal material.

Work Environment: This job operates in a variety of environments based on the location of the job that could lead to hot, cold, dusty, and noisy or hot areas.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Must be willing to train on first shift 6:00am-4:00pm. for approximately 2-5 weeks or until you are fully trained on bandsaw. This is a full-time position. Work days are Monday to Friday, 2nd shift 2:00 pm to 12:00 midnight. Required to work weekends and overtime.
Travel: This position does not travel
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must be able to pass a drug test
High School Diploma or equivalent At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role using a bandsaw. Experience reading and using calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, micrometers, go/no go gages, thread gages, cylindrical plug and vertical dividing head. Able to operate some tools such as angle grinder and perform some blending and deburring. Able to maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions. Experience in the processes of deburring, drilling, blending welds, and maintaining specific tolerances. Experience operating band saw, belt sanders, sizers, angle, straight grander and hand tools. Knowledge in the use the band saw to perform operations such as but not limited to cutting simple layouts. Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude. Must be proficient in math, using a measuring tape, and the application of measurements. Able to lift 50 lbs. Meet production deadlines. Must be able to stand and work at least 8-10 hours per day. Must have reliable transportation. Must be detail oriented. Must be receptive to accepting and overcoming challenges in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to cross train into different departments. Must be willing to train on first shift 6:00am-4:00pm. for approximately 2-5 weeks or until you are fully trained on bandsaw. Must be able to operate (2) bandsaws.
