Commercial Landlord Tenant AND Commercial Litigation

Paralegal Position

Midtown law firm is looking for an experienced Commercial Landlord-Tenant / Commercial Litigation Paralegal to be part of a close-knit team of attorneys. Under the direction and supervision of attorneys, this position will assist attorneys in various aspects of commercial real estate and general commercial litigation.


  • The preparation of all landlord-tenant litigation predicate notices and pleadings; and

  • Draft various initial pleadings, including answers, document requests and responses, interrogatories and other discovery, summons and affidavits; and

  • Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation. Organize interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation. Locate and interview witnesses, and assist in preparing selected witnesses for trial; and

  • Assist attorneys in preparation for depositions, gather and prepare documents, organize exhibits, take notes and handle exhibits during the deposition, digest transcripts; and

  • Assist with hearing and motion practice, including assembling all relevant documents, proofreading papers, organizing exhibits and creating document indices in the preparation of motion filing; and

  • File all pleadings and documents with courts and agencies, including organizing briefs, exhibits, and appendices as well as ensuring proper compliance with notification rules, distribution of files and courtesy copies; and

  • Schedule and maintain a calendar of hearings, appointments, depositions, meetings, and deadlines;


  • Substantial experience with the preparation of all landlord-tenant litigation predicate notices and pleadings;

  • Substantial familiarity with the New York Real Actions and Proceedings Law; and

  • Experience with document control and e-filing with state and federal courts;

  • Experience in real estate litigation, and management of high-volume of cases;

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines;

  • Ability to handle pressure, interruptions, and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadline;

  • Ability to perform legal research, in-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles;

  • Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy;

  • Exceptional organization, writing and communication skills;

  • Interact professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff, and other representatives outside of the firm;

  • Good organizational skills; detail-oriented. Good interpersonal skills. Able to work under pressure and multitask when required. High degree of initiative and self-motivation;

  • Proven analytical and organizational skills. Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow up requirements;

  • Ability to problem solve, think independently and tackle projects;

  • Ability to merge files and databases, and the ability to conduct on-line research of public offices for tax, recording, zoning and other information;

  • Demonstrate proficiency in:

    • Microsoft Office Suite

    • Adobe Photoshop

    • Westlaw

    • NYSCEF

    • Pacer


  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience preferred;

  • Paralegal certificate preferred;

  • Six years of previous experience in commercial real estate litigation; and

  • Notary Public License from the State of New York is preferred.
